What building it changes

The documented value is access to Companion work: members can fulfill requests for which they meet the requirements. This offers a separate activity for members not currently running a dungeon. Eligibility still matters; six available slots do not mean every member can complete every request.

Set up and maintain companions

After construction, open the Request Board, choose the intended slot and assign an eligible member. Inspect the member's name and earned gold in the Companion interface. Reassignment during a request is supported from v1.08, so review the worker list before pulling a member into a party.

The v1.09 hotfix corrects two editing problems: changes affecting the first slot rather than the selected one, and removed members not becoming immediately selectable. If you reproduce those symptoms, check that the hotfix is installed before rebuilding the Tavern or restarting the save.

Construction planning

Read the current construction panel for cost and town requirements; the official Companion notes do not give a complete building-cost table. Plan the building for the work it unlocks, rather than assuming you need it to read Dungeon Information. Keep its value with your other building values if calculating reincarnation gold.
